Air Doors, also called Air Curtains, save energy and create healthy, comfortable environments by keeping unconditioned air, fumes, and insects from entering buildings through open doorways. An unheated unit has an average payback of 2 years or less. We have air door and air curtain models designed to protect any opening, all the way up to a 30' high dock door.
Air doors and air curtains can be installed suspended from the ceiling, around door tracks, wall-mounted or vertically mounted along the side of the opening. The discharge nozzle with directional vanes can be adjusted to achieve optimal performance. When the door opens, an automatic door switch can activate the air door or air curtain providing the stream of air to stop the elements from entering the building.
When the door closes, the air door / air curtain will be deactivated. There are many configurations available to operate air doors and air curtains.
An air door or air curtain is multifunctional. It not only keeps out unwanted dirt, debris, fumes, and insects, but also maintains the temperature inside, by using a steady stream of air which blocks the fluctuating outdoor elements.
Upon entering or exiting the building, the air door will activate, preventing unwanted outside air from entering the building and will deactivate once motion has ceased. If the building is a high traffic area, the air door can blow a continuous stream of air, ensuring bugs, debris, and outdoor conditions stay outside.
The use of an air door or air curtain also makes entering and exiting the building easier for employees and customers. No more inefficient hanging plastic strips to fight your way through.
Yes! By Installing an air curtain you will create an energy-efficient space which will reduce your energy bills and the air curtain will pay for itself within 2 years or less. The air door, air curtain, creates a “wall” of air that seals out the varying outdoor temperatures and maintains the interior building temperature. The consistent interior temperature provided by the air curtain will create energy efficiency and will result in lower energy bills and reduce the wear on your heating and cooling system. This energy efficiency not only helps lower bills but keeps employees in a consistent, comfortable working climate.
To make an informed decision about whether to install a heated or unheated air door or air curtain, take these questions into consideration. What is the year-round climate? Are you in a warmer climate or colder climate? Consider temperature, humidity, wind, rainfall and if your area is prone to severe weather conditions such as tropical storms. Will the air door be used for a service door, cooler or freezer door or for shipping and receiving? Is it a high traffic area that is used daily? Once you have the answers to these questions, a Rotary Products specialist can help determine if a heated or unheated air door or air curtain will work best for your business.
If you want to install an air curtain at your business but the opening measurements are not standard, you need to know what options are available to you. Rotary Products will work with you to customize an air door or air curtain to perfectly fit your space and will provide all the energy efficiency and convenience of a standard-sized air door.
